The 636 is an evolution of the highly-successful 525. The basis of the units design being to suit the African climate, applications and economics. Unlike the USA or Europe, Africa has it's own unique requirements. Simply put, truck mounted sweepers historically available from the USA and Europe are to big and to expensive. The decision to build this unit in the USA was based on Elgin's current infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities as well as their international market exposure. This to ensure sufficient volumes to produce an economically priced truck.
