Well, using a high pressure cleaner makes it so much easier also reaching into those awkward corners. For use on farms and other outdoors places there are models available which are driven by petrol engines for the cleaning of farm implements, machinery and other uses.

Options in Available Car Wash Equipment South Africa

Car wash equipment South Africa is available for both commercial and domestic purposes. The most common commercial type cleaners are the well known car wash cubicles equipped with an automated machine with rollers; a high pressure water system, as well as hot air blowers to pre dry the car. Other water based systems use mobile high pressure water based systems, involving either self service washing or labour driven systems. Yet another type of commercial cleaner system, which is waterless uses wax as a suspension agent to lift the dirt and it is wiped away by microfiber cloths, with minimal water usage. Domestic systems are mobile high pressure hoses that do away with the traditional bucket of water, soap and a cloth. All of these systems are supported by additionally available equipment, like vacuuming systems, engine cleaners and a variety of chemicals.

Car wash equipment South Africa is available through a variety of suppliers including franchise organizations. It reportedly takes some 200 litres of water to wash a single car with the large water based commercial installations, which in real terms is rather a lot of water considering the volume throughput of some of these installations.

Operational costs are fairly well protected against labour costs as these machines are mostly self driven and the only labour components are encountered at the vacuuming and drying bays. Electricity, and chemicals, however, remains a major cost component to the overall operational costs of such systems. An interesting development in car wash equipment is the waterless wax based system, or the so called 'green option'. This is a mobile system which uses wax as the cleaning agent and uses very little water at all - water is used for rinsing cloths, and not in the main car wash application. It reportedly takes some 20 minutes to wash a car as opposed to double the time by conventional systems.

Car wash equipment South Africa for the domestic market involves the use of mobile high pressure water systems that delivers considerable pressure to the water in washing the car. The nozzle of the hose is adjustable to deliver a powerful jet of water to remove mud and the like from vehicles, while another adjustment allows for a spraying action to rinse. A lot better than a bucket of water and soap!

Matthew Middleton, GCE Key Accounts Executive, says that this is one of the largest commercial contracts in the history of the company. “Global is a company with great integrity. If they commit to something they stick to it without hesitation. We are proud to be associated with them and are pleased to have played an important role in their winning the extra business at UP,” says Middleton.

Nothnagel concurs: “Ultimately I believe it is our integrity that has made us successful with UP. Goscor Sucks

12th January 2012
There’s no doubt about it, Goscor does suck – better than anyone around!

Leading industrial cleaning solutions provider, Goscor Cleaning Equipment (GCE) has fast built a mighty reputation for helping customers suck up the toughest dirt with its range of Delfin industrial vacuums.

Delfin is a world leader in the manufacture of industrial vacuum cleaners and suction units, and has developed a range of products suitable for solving specialist cleaning and recycling challenges in a wide range of applications.

GCE industrial vacuums product manager, Graeme Kruger, who has been in the industrial vacuum business for more than 13 years and is one of South Africa’s leading experts on vacuum equipment and the cleaning of hazardous materials says that Goscor’s years of experience in hazardous environments, and expertise in high-efficiency particulate air (HEPA) filtration techniques for such environments make it one of the leading solutions providers in this niche segment in the country.

“With the support of the outstanding Delfin range, we are strengthening our position in this industry,” says Kruger. He adds that these machines work in a wide range of industries including pharmaceutical, mining, aerospace, medical, food, paper, cement, electronics, engineering and many others. “In terms of engineering we have equipment that picks up cutting fluids and shavings separating the shaving from the cutting fluid allowing the fluid to be reused.”

Delfin has also released a new range of ‘Hi Vacuum’ vacuum equipment for heavy duty applications with high SG product in foundries and mines.

Goscor Sweeper for OR Tambo Runways

24 October, 2011
It might be stating the obvious, but the fact is that lives are at stake when it comes to the cleanliness of a runway at a major international airport. With these safety aspects in mind  ACSA recently purchased an Elgin FSX runway sweeper from Goscor Cleaning Equipment (GCE) for the O.R. Tambo International Airport runways.

According to Ricky Bodmer, GCE MD, one of the major advantages of the Elgin FSX is its exceptional sweep speed. “It performs its cleaning action while travelling at 40km/h.  Speed is a specific requirement when it comes to cleaning runways, which are vast in area and, of course, extremely busy with aircraft traffic,” Bodmer says.

He adds that the side-blower and front magnet are both important features that have been included on the ACSA machine. “The magnet, which is mounted in front of the machine, picks up extraneous metal debris and prevents punctured tyres on the sweeper itself further preventing possible failures whilst on the runway. The side-blower is mounted on the left side so that fine dust and grass etc is blown away from the runway,” Bodmer explains.

Surajh Singh ACSA Fleet Maintenance Controller says that the decision to purchase a runway cleaner is never taken lightly. “It’s critical equipment for an airport and hence we look for equipment that will do the job required reliably and efficiently. In this case we looked at several machines and we are confident the Elgin FSX fits the bill. Importantly, however, we are also impressed with Goscor’s knowledge, experience and support service. Downtime must obviously be kept to an absolute minimum and they are always prepared to go the extra mile in this regard.”

Part of Goscor’s service is operator training and Andre Botha, GCE technical manager, was personally at the handover of the FSX to lead the first training. “The FSX is basically very operator friendly. It is ergonomically designed promoting comfort, reducing operator fatigue and increasing productivity,” says Botha.

Some of the Elgin FSX’s other important features include:

Highly Efficient Air Conveyance System
• High volume air flow at high velocities result in exceptional one-pass
pick-up and eliminates ‘plugging’ that can occur in similar type sweepers.
• Nine-vane closed-face turbine fan powered by an efficient turbocharged
diesel auxiliary engine.
• Centrifugal dust separator minimizes pressure loss and maximizes
sweep performance and fan life.

High Productivity Sweep System
• Large, hydraulically driven, 1067 mm side brooms result in an extra-wide,3658 mm sweep path.
• Works with brooms fully extended for a wide sweeping path or fully
retracted for powerful scrubbing action in front of the pick-up head.

Superior Water System
• Two heavy-duty, easy-access water pumps–one dedicated exclusively to
the pickup head water system.
• Durable polyethylene water tank, which is removable for service.
• Ample water is provided with 16 high-quality, agricultural-grade water
nozzles, all in easy-to-access locations.

Simple, Easy-Access Maintenance
• Large fibreglass access doors allow quick inspection without tilting the
hopper. The engine oil can be checked, hydraulic filter changed,
pneumatic pressure checked and the fan bearings greased.
• The hydraulic system, including O-ring connectors, are designed for
long life and leak-free operation.
• Waterproof, snap-together electrical connectors and colour-coded wires
are stamped with identification mark for quick location during troubleshooting.

A major contributing factor why ACSA selected the FSX is that the sweeper skid in mounted to a locally procured truck chassis. This eliminates parts issues associated with imported trucks that are not locally supported. The mounting procedure and homologation takes approximately 3 weeks to complete.

Goscor Escalator Cleaning Takes a Step Up

11 August 2011
The exceptional performance of Goscor Cleaning Equipment’s (GCE) escalator cleaner is turning heads in the market with inquiries growing from day to day. This is according to GCE’s product manager Matthew Middleton.

The latest orders for this machine have come from well-known cleaning contractor Lami Hygiene Care (LHC) for use at two of the biggest shopping centres in Johannesburg, one in Bedfordview and one in Sandton.

Middleton says that cleaning escalators is not an easy process. “Unlike other cleaning methods such as steaming, machines with dry and abrasive brushes and aggressive hand cleaning, our machine cleans escalators without removing powder coatings or scratching the surface,” he says.

LHC’s Corne van Staden agrees.  “It’s the best escalator cleaner on the market,” he says. “We were so satisfied with what it did at the first shopping centre that we had no hesitation in ordering one for the Sandton centre too,” he says.

The  machine sprays a measured, minimal amount of chemical solution onto the step and riser, which is then agitated onto the surfaces by brushes too soft to cause any damage to either the aluminium or anodised and painted surfaces, but hard enough to remove tough dirt and grease. Specifically formulated chemical for use on all types of escalators combined with gentle and effective friction, enables the brushes to transport the dirt onto a collection tray from where it is removed by vacuum to a holding tank.  The escalator surface is left clean and dry with no risk of contamination to lubricating oils in escalator drums or damage to electrical circuits.

During the cleaning process all embedded foreign matter, which could damage the escalator, is manually removed. “This is an important aspect of the cleaning process as all sand, dirt and spillage, which would normally have combined with oil and grease to form a grinding paste in the escalator mechanism, are completely removed,” says Middleton

Van Staden says that Goscor’s service has also been first-class and has included comprehensive training for all the operators. “Goscor is good at attending to the detail both before, during and most importantly, after the sale.”

Goscor Eastern Cape Riding High

15th July 2011
With exceptional demand for both its warehousing equipment and its industrial cleaning range Goscor Eastern Cape is riding high! This is according to Goscor Eastern Cape branch manager, Mike Burley.

“Our exceptional, world-leading brands combined with Goscor’s unique service ethic has enabled us to maintain an excellent order book in this tough economic environment,” says Burley.

‘Exceptional’ and ‘world-leading’ is not wrong! In terms of the logistics and warehousing industries Goscor boasts some of the most famous brands in the world including Crown, Doosan and Bendi.

With manufacturing facilities globally, Crown is the world leader in the manufacture of electric materials handling equipment. Catering to the ever-changing demands of warehousing, Crown has equipment to suit every conceivable warehouse application.

Doosan, which will be sponsoring the iconic British Open golf tournament this year, is a world-class manufacturer of one of the finest selections of lift trucks. The company’s “brakes for life” system – an oil-cooled disc brake system, which eliminates all outside contamination by any humid, abrasive or corrosive dust particles, significantly reduces operating costs and GLTC offers a 60-month, unlimited hours guarantee on it.

Bendi is a revolutionary counterbalanced, articulating forklift, which can work in very narrow spaces. Even in widths of just 1.8m, the Bendi helps the operator work faster, safer and more accurately.

“Our range of products and Goscor’s professionalism in the Eastern Cape has been key to GLTC’s considerable success.” says Goscor Lift Truck MD Darryl Shafto. “Two years ago the total number of lift trucks sold in South Africa was down 70% owing to the recession, but thanks to our strength in the warehouse segment, the downturn left us virtually unscathed”, he says.

In terms of its industrial cleaning division, ‘world-leading brands’ is also a relevant description and Goscor Eastern Cape offers, inter alia, Tennant, perhaps its most famous marque.

Goscor’s Tennant range includes award-winning industrial and commercial sweepers, scrubbers, coatings, detergents, carpet cleaning equipment, vacuums, floor machines, burnishers and more.

Goscor’s other brands include Elgin sweepers, which have been cleaning roads and airports since 1914; Cherrington beach cleaners whose manoeuvrability and unique sifting system make the ideal machine for both large and small ocean beaches as well as many agricultural applications; Italimpia, renowned for its quality janitorial products and accessories and Ghibli, one of the world’s leading manufacturers of wet / dry industrial vacuum cleaners, Guzzler vacuum tankers and Vactor combination jetting units, have started to attract attention in the local market.

Recently Goscor added Delfin, a world leader in the manufacture of industrial vacuum cleaners and suction units, which has developed a range of products suitable for solving specialist cleaning and recycling challenges in a wide range of applications.

Burley says that giving his customers’ an individual service is the secret to his branch’s success. “We are not an off-the-shelf company. We like to understand completely what our customers need and provide solutions that meet these needs. In this way we develop partnerships for the long term,” he says.

In June 2010 Imperial Holdings Limited, through its subsidiary AMH, acquired a majority shareholding in the Goscor Group. Burley says that being part of the Imperial Group has given his branch the opportunity to take advantage of Imperial’s substantial regional footprint and financial muscle. “This is helping us become the best there is in our region,” he concluded.

Locally Assembled Elgin Road Sweeper - first of its kind!

Goscor Cleaning Equipment (GCE) is proud to announce that it has produced it's first locally assembled road sweeper. Historically these machines were imported as "complete" units. The advantage of locally assembling these sweepers is that the chassis can now be locally selected and supported by the selling dealer. Local warranties also apply.

"We currently have the options of TATA, Hino and Iveco and are working on making other local brands available," says MD of GCE, Ricky Bodmer. Imported chassis from the USA are left hand drive so dual steer is not an option and results in additional costs. On right hand drive chassis using a camera system allows easy visual control for sweeping on the left at a greatly reduced cost.

Elgin Road SweeperImported chassis also pose a problem with regards to local support as they tend to be very sophisticated due to the enforced advanced emission controls imposed by European and American countries. These imported chassis generally pose their own set of challenges for local dealers. The sweeper body is still supplied by ELGIN SWEEPER COMPANY and is shipped to S.A. in skid form. Assembly is carried out in our own workshop facilities.  After sales support for the chassis and the sweeper body is offered locally.

For a VERY COMPETITIVE PRICE or more information, please contact Goscor Cleaning Equipment on 086 123 CLEAN / 011 230 2600.
